They did an excellent job and, as usual, there are tons of great posts. If you have the time, I highly suggest you skim through them.

The Way They Learn

An excellent book on the learning styles of all children AND adults. It is written so that parents can understand it and begin to identify and search out the strengths of both their children and themselves. Ms. Tobias is careful to warn parents of the dangers of having children inaccurately labled as having a learning disability, when in fact it may be that the child simply has a different learning style than both his teacher and/or parent.

Your Child's Growing Mind

This book became an instant classic when it was published in 1987, and has been a cornerstone for educators ever since. Now revised and updated to reflect recent findings in brain research, this book guides parents, teachers, and caregivers as they gauge the level of development of an individual child's brain.

Homeschoolers' College Admissions Handbook

This book explains the different transcript types, and learning of various ways to earn college credit. It explains how to create your childs portfolio so they can attend the college of choice. The checklist at the end of the book is especially helpful in determining when my to take the PSAT and SAT and when to actually apply to college and for financial aid.

Family Matters: Why Homeschooling Makes Sense

Guterson mounts a strong challenge to "the doctrine of school's necessity." He profiles the home-school movement, which encompasses more than 300,000 families in America, and probes the wide variety of motives behind its growth. The most common, he finds, is parents' dissatisfaction with the mass, prescribed and other-directed nature of public education. Guterson argues that properly practiced home-schooling produces academic success, lessens peer pressure and allows children to become independent.
